Is there some directions on how to upload some night sky pics / start an album on our gallery somewhere that I am missing?

Mike,

Normally you create an "album" on the club Gallery page, which you can then link from. There is a link in the club forums for this or you can use the below.

An alternative location for you to upload pictures to and then link from is www.Astrobin.com. A number of members use this site in addition to the club based one since it allows for maximum resolution and as some neat features link analyzing the contents of your pictures.
