What's New at RMSS 2012 Our Own Land -- No More National Forest Service The year 2009 was the first year to hold RMSS on 35 acres of private land just north of Gardner, CO, located about half-way between Westcliffe and Walsenburg Colorado on Highway 69. The property is 5 miles off of Highway 69 with almost NO traffic of ANY kind, and offers incredibly black skies. The new land received RAVE reviews from all who attended! Wonderfully dark skies, very little light dome from the big cities to the north, and beautiful Rocky Mountain Scenery! We are changing the name of the Land Fund to the Building Improvement Fund for our future improvements. We will be announcing our plans for the next few years on this site soon. We thank all who have donated in the past and those who are considering donating in the future Confirmed New Items: Photo Contest This will include five categories: 1) Best Bug Photo 2) Best Daylight Sky 3)Best Misc Category 4) Best Night Sky and 5) Best People Photo The catch? It must be taken from the RMSS 2012 site within the period of RMSS 2012. Submittal info will be available at the registration tent during the event. We will get them transferred to a computer and judge them prior to the awards ceremony. We are looking for 3-5 non-CSAS members who are NOT entering the contest themselves and do not have family members who are entering. If you are interested in judging this year’s contest, please let us know. You would be needed at around 2 or 2:30pm on Saturday to judge the photos and decide the winners.
